This week we take a look at the upcoming Astros Hall of Fame Induction ceremony taking place at Minute Maid Park prior to the game between the Houston Astros and Anaheim Angels on Saturday, August 12th. The Astros HOF is a project that Mike worked on extensively and established in 2019 for the team. The Class of 2023 includes longtime broadcaster Bill Brown, who called Astros games on radio and television for 30 years between 1987-2016. Brown is one of the most professional and well-respected announcers to have worked not only in baseball, but in other sports as well. His famous calls have included Craig Biggio’s 3,000th hit, three no-hitters, seven playoff teams, the complete careers of Baseball Hall of Famers Craig Biggio and Jeff Bagwell. Bill Doran spent nine seasons with the Astros from 1982-1990 and was known for being one of the most clutch hitters in Houston franchise history. Doran was fifth in Rookie of the Year voting in 1983 and received National League MVP votes in three consecutive seasons from 1985-87. Doran was a huge part of the 1986 NL Western Division Champion team. Mike and Lisbet discuss the ceremony that will induct Brown and Doran into the Astros Hall of Fame at Minute Maid Park and how the team HOF came to be.

The two hosts also discuss a new show called “Do HOU Know?” for HCB-TV, where Houston trivia will be used with live contestants. If you are interested in being a contestant, email info@houstoncitybeat.com.
