Get ready for a blast from the past, Houston! The Alvin Historical Museum is bringing back the magic of AstroWorld with a special exhibit opening on July 5th. Prepare for a wonderful and exciting look into the summers of yesteryear when our city boasted its very own original amusement park. AstroWorld, which opened its gates in 1968, created 37 years of fun-filled memories before closing its doors in 2005, becoming a beloved summer tradition for generations of Houstonians.

AstroWorld historian Donald Hayes is the driving force behind much of this exhibit, contributing a significant portion of the memorabilia he's meticulously collected since the theme park's closure. The display will also feature cherished items from other individuals and former employees, offering a truly comprehensive look back.

The Alvin Historical Museum's General Board Meeting on June 29th at 1:00 pm at the Senior Center will feature Donald Hayes as a guest speaker. He'll be sharing insights into the upcoming exhibit and his passion for preserving AstroWorld's history. Visitors are warmly welcomed to attend and even bring their own AstroWorld memorabilia to share with fellow enthusiasts.
