It was an experience at Better Luck Tomorrow and we would love to share every detail with you...
To be exact, it was a culinary experience.
What she ordered: The Braised Meatballs:
It started with the bread. They call it garlic bread but it’s far more than just garlic bread. Let me explain…
The crust was perfectly crispy on the outside with a nice layer of garlic butter. The crumb, aka the inside of bread perfection, was perfectly created - a 10 out of 10.
It comes with a bowl of 4 meatballs which would put any Italian restaurant to shame. A mix of pork and beef topped with fried onions and a tomato sauce that’s a perfect blend of Italian herbs.
She was left wondering about the great mind behind this culinary masterpiece.
What she said: This isn’t JUST garlic bread, you’ve got to try this. She scooped a meatball onto a piece of bread for him and was so excited for him to try this mini meatball creation, she knocked the tomato sauce covered knife off the table onto her beige corduroy pants. Now that’s winning!
What he ordered: Fried Chicken Sandwich
Is it just me or do those fries appear to be floating in a heavenly cloud? I had one or two from his plate, it’s heavenly for sure.
You see that Fried Chicken Sandwich? If you adore fried chicken, this is your dish. It comes with honey, paprika butter, and pickles.
What he said: It sure is messy.
What she ordered: The Salty Cat
Gin, grapefruit, and salted plum makes up The Salty Cat. She ordered it partly because it was listed under the Classics and Riffs section and partly because she wondered what a salted plum was all about.
What she said: it’s the perfect cocktail, not too serious and not too crazy.
She found out there’s such a thing as a salted plum but unless it was muddled into this concoction, she didn’t see it in the glass.
What he ordered: An Old Fashioned
What he said: He said not a word.
He only says something if it doesn’t taste like an old fashioned. The bartender scored a perfect 10 with this one.
What they both said:
The restaurant has a great combination of indoor and outdoor seating. The bar is well stocked and the parking lot is not a hassle to navigate. What they were not too thrilled with was the waitress who seemed to want to be anywhere but where she was currently. At one point he asked her a question about the fried chicken sandwich - a simple question - and the waitress didn't know...or it could have been that she didn't care to answer. Either way, it's safe to say these Bayou City Dish foodies will be making another round at some point to give it another shot.
