Walmart recently initiated a recall of over 12,000 cartons of its Great Value brand chicken broth due to concerns about potential packaging issues that could lead to product spoilage.
The recall, which initially began on December 11th, involves 48-ounce containers of chicken broth and affects 242 stores across nine states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas.
The recalled products have a "best used by" date of March 25, 2026, and carry the UPC code "007874206684."
The FDA's announcement states that the recall was due to "potential for packaging failures that could compromise the sterility of the product, resulting in spoilage."
Walmart has emphasized the safety of its customers, stating that they immediately removed the impacted product from the affected stores upon learning of the issue. They are currently working with the supplier to investigate the cause of the packaging concerns.
What to Do:
- Discard any recalled product immediately.
- Contact Walmart for a full refund.
- Do not consume any chicken broth that has a strange odor, appears discolored, or shows signs of mold.
This recall serves as a reminder to always check for signs of spoilage before consuming any food product.
