Episode 4 - HCB-TV

Episode 4 of Houston City Beat on HCB-TV comes to you from the Gerald D. Hines Water Wall Park next to the famous 64-story Williams Tower in the Galleria Area. Generations of Houstonians have enjoyed this unique park since 1985 by taking a simple stroll, stretching out across the green space, or even taking portraits for weddings, proms, and Quinceanera's. Lisbet Marquez hosts the episode from this popular landmark as we showcase more neighbors in the Greater Houston Area.

Our first feature shows Lisbet’s visit with Adanary Jacques, Founder of The Urban Flower Company located off the Gulf Freeway. This local Dispensary has been in business for over three years and is establishing new grounds in an ever expanding CBD industry. There are plans to add more locations in the Houston area. Learn how The Urban Flower got its name, hear about their “Budtenders”, and learn about its historical influence from the Prohibition era.

Our second feature is with the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce, who have been working on improving the quality of life of citizens and businesses alike along the FM 1960 West Corridor in a 7.5 mile stretch between State Highway 249 and Interstate 45. Over the past 25 years or so Houston has seen urban renewal in many areas around town and the NW Chamber’s goal is to create a Management District to oversee the revitalization projects. Mike Acosta and Lisbet visited with Bobby Lieb, President and CEO of the NW Chamber, and Polly Looper, Management District Coordinator.

In addition, we take a look at the recent “Race for the Dome” which was once again hosted by the Astrodome Conservancy. This race featured a 1K for kids and 5K for adults that circled the Astrodome and the grounds of NRG Park. Lisbet and Mike were participants in the race that benefitted the Conservancy and also celebrated the 58th birthday of the Astrodome.

As part of our Back the Badge Program, we will have a special Public Service Announcement on Texting Abuse and Cyber Bullying, in particularly towards women. Abuse comes in many forms. We also provide contact information for the National Domestic Violence Hotline (thehotline.org).

Also, Lisbet runs into a surprise guest towards the end of the show, and her interview with this special holiday spirited guest will appear on Episode 5 of Houston City Beat.
