Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation

Houston, TX - The Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation is dedicated to enriching learners, empowering families, engaging volunteers, and raising awareness about the widespread literacy challenges facing the community. Their mission is to develop solutions that transform lives and ensure Houston thrives. This endeavor is deeply rooted in the legacy of former First Lady Barbara Bush, who advocated for literacy awareness and initiated a nationwide movement. She firmly believed that learning to read, write, and comprehend is a fundamental human right, and she prioritized this belief throughout her time as First Lady. Over more than three decades, she devoted herself to ensuring that families had access to essential literacy programs and resources necessary for success in the workplace, at home, and in society.

The Foundation is well-acquainted with giving back, but one recent donation exemplified a spirit of excellence. Houston-based PFI ORG made a noteworthy contribution to the Barbara Bush Foundation through their “Print for Impact” Program, which donates a percentage of clients' annual spending on print materials as a way to support the community. On this occasion, PFI ORG President Tina Romero was present to present a check to the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation for just over $6,000, which will be directly invested back into the wonderful initiatives the Foundation offers to the Houston community. This serves as a great example of Houstonians helping one another.

PFI ORG CEO Lorena Iglesias, the architect behind the Print for Impact Program, states, “The purpose behind our mission goes above and beyond, and my vision is to truly support nonprofits that have a purpose and mission in the community. This is as much for for-profit businesses as well. I’m thrilled to see this program come to life.”
