Lisbet Newton
“Our role is to make sure Houston’s entrepreneurs and nonprofit founders are never lost in the digital noise.”
A first-generation Cuban-American who has called Houston home for more than 35 years, Lisbet is an entrepreneur and community architect committed to building inclusive environments where leaders can thrive.
With an MBA from the University of St. Thomas and experience scaling a digital marketing agency, she launched Houston City Beat and developed an ecosystem that connects multimedia storytelling, Community Connectors, Community Kites and The Houston Community.

Mike Acosta

Mike is the creative force behind Houston City Beat, bringing extensive experience in media production and professional storytelling to the platform.
Drawing on a background in professional sports and Major League Baseball, he brings precision and narrative discipline to stories about Houston’s history, people and places. As co-founder of The Houston Community ecosystem, he helps turn digital visibility into authentic community engagement.
